As an aspiring illustrator I have always focused on more traditional methods – hands-on environments where brushes and paint are the key ingredients. I have come to learn the computer is an important tool I need to learn to succeed in my field. However, I had a fear of the computer – it just seemed so complicated when using a brush was so convenient. Having Mr. Tuttle as my computer drawing teacher has opened my eyes to a new way of conveying my art. After taking his class the computer doesn't seem so scary anymore. I have taken other computer classes before but I was never really able to grasp the concepts, having to figure out things for myself and feeling as though I was going into it blindfolded. Mr. Tuttle has enabled me to feel more confident in using the programs and tools. I am even excited about working more to improve my skills and making new discoveries. He has given me a new outlook with his knowledge, support and influence as a true professional. Along with being a respected teacher and presence in the classroom, he is a wonderful artist on the computer as well as with a traditional lead pencil. I know I will continue to push myself to better my computer skills so I have that option available to me in the future.

In a design world that is so competitive, it's really refreshing and inspiring to see you wanting to teach and wanting to share everything about the program... more importantly wanting to see someone else excel. It really makes me love design again!

Ed's teaching style is organized and intensive. While teaching here in Kona, he spent one-on-one time with the students as well as coming to the classroom several evenings to see how they were progressing. He poured out his heart in such a way that my students not only developed their skills in a postive environment, but they felt truly cared for by Ed.

In 2004 I coordinated an arts workshop with the purpose of affirming and releasing creative expression. Attendees came from all over New England. Ed's life-drawing classes were filled to capacity with a waiting list. He was able to create a safe and stimulating environment for all his students, novices as well as experienced artists. Ed's knowledge and expertise, as well as his sensitivity and leadership, made the class a great success.
